Abstract:
The control apparatus and control method for a variable valve timing mechanism according to the present invention each involve: obtaining a first detection value of a rotation phase on the basis of the rotation angle of a motor; obtaining a second detection value of the rotation phase on the basis of the relative relationship between the rotation angle of a crankshaft and the rotation angle of a camshaft; calibrating the first detection value on the basis of the second detection value; obtaining a differential term proportional to the change rate of the difference between the first detection value and a target value; suppressing change of the differential term when calibrating the first detection value on the basis of the second detection value; and controlling the motor on the basis of an operation amount including the differential term.
