When there is insufficient power in a system comprising a control device and a device to be controlled from the control device, the device to be controlled needs to know the status of the device to be controlled, or needs to know the control method used for power-saving power reduction of the device to be controlled, and control becomes complex. To solve this problem, the invention is a control device connected on a network to multiple devices to be controlled that consume power, said control device controlling said power, and being provided with: a receiving unit that from an external source, receives a request to reduce power consumption; and a sending unit that sends the request to reduce power consumption to a device to be controlled. When a request to reduce power consumption is received by the receiving unit, said control device causes a request to reduce the power consumption to be sent from the sending unit to the device to be controlled.
