Abstract:

Disclosed is a control device for an internal combustion engine that can suppress blowback of gas remaining in a cylinder into an intake passage when returning from a fuel cut while suppressing oil loss via the piston rings during execution of a fuel cut accompanying valve-stopping control of an intake valve. Further disclosed is a control device for a vehicle provided with said internal combustion engine. During execution of a fuel cut accompanying intake-valve-stopping control, control for advancing the opening/closing period of an exhaust valve (32) is executed. When a request for return from the abovementioned fuel cut is detected, in the case where the abovementioned control for advancing is being executed, the amount of advancement of the opening/closing period of the exhaust valve (32) is delayed in a manner so that the amount of advancement is no more than a predetermined value.
