Abstract:

If an electric oil pump fails when the engine automatically stops under prescribed conditions, the clutch and the gear engaged at the time of the automatic engine stop are automatically released, and the engine is force-started with the transmission in a neutral state. After ensuring sufficient hydraulic pressure of the automatic transmission fluid supplied to the transmission by the action of a mechanical oil pump accompanying the force-start of the engine, the disengaged transmission and clutch are re-engaged. By so doing, if the engine needs to be force-started immediately after an automatic engine stop accompanying failure of the electric oil pump, reductions in transmission durability can be prevented by avoiding clutch engagement shock and clutch slipping due to insufficient oil pressure caused by the failure of the electric oil pump.
