With medical imaging devices, imaging parameters must be set according to the subject and purpose of the imaging. Imaging parameters mutually affect each other and when the value of one parameter is changed, it is sometimes necessary to change other parameters accordingly. But if the user is expected to understand all of the interactions and change the values appropriately, there is the possibility of omissions and setting errors. Moreover, because the actual imaging method may change depending upon the user's judgment, imaging methods for each user cannot be reflected even if the interrelationships between the parameters are stored before-the-fact in the medical imaging device. In the disclosed system, rules representing the interrelationships between parameters are generated on the basis of results of previously used imaging parameters. During imaging, inputted parameters and the rules are compared and when a mismatch occurs, the user is notified. Moreover, if parameters that do not match the rules are used based on the user's judgment, the parameter that has been used is added to the results and the rules are updated.
