Abstract:
A control unit and a control method for an A.C. electric car in which a D.C. motor is driven by rectifying an A.C. source. When connecting a plurality of motors in parallel, the currents flowing in the armatures of the motors are unbalanced due to differences between the characteristics of the motors and differences among the characteristics of the motors and differences in the rotational speeds caused by differences in the diameter of the wheels. To eliminate the unbalance and miniaturize the unit, a common rectifying device (12, 13) of cascade-connected rectifiers is connected to the motors (21, 22) through rectifying devices (11, 14), respectively. According to the above construction, the current of each motor is separately controllable.
