Abstract:
A corrugated insert for a heat exchanger has the form of a plate with corrugations (1), the walls (2) of which form channels (3) for the passage of the heat-carrying medium and are provided, along their length, with protrusions (4) and recesses (5), which are grouped in pairs, are placed opposite to each other on the adjacent walls (2) of the corrugations (1) and are alternating with plain sections so as to ensure periodical throttling of the flow of the heat-carrying medium and thus to intensify the heat exchange process. The length of each plain section (6) does not exceed five hydraulic diameters of the plain section (6) of the channel (3), the internal rounding-off radius of the top of the corrugation (1) does not exceed the difference between a quarter of the pitch of the corrugation (1) and a half of the thickness of the wall (2), whereas the protrusions (4) and recesses (5) on the walls (2) of the corrugations (1) are of a length which ensures the intensification of the heat exchange process.
