Title:
COTTON ADSORBENT FOR REMOVING HARMFUL CYANOBACTERIA THAT CAUSE ALGAL BLOOM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2023/080745
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cotton adsorbent for removing cyanobacteria, which is surface-modified with a cationic polymer and a method for removing algal bloom by using same. The cotton adsorbent of the present invention uses cotton, which is a natural material, thus being environmentally friendly, and contains a large amount of amine groups through modification of the surface of a cotton material with polyethyleneimine, which is a cationic polymer, and thus can effectively adsorb negatively charged harmful cyanobacteria cells. In particular, the cotton adsorbent which is surface-modified with a cationic polymer, according to the present invention, has no ecotoxicity, and thus has the advantage of minimizing various adverse effects such as toxicity on the aquatic ecosystem according to actual use.
