A connection holding means (50) is provided between a socket (S10) and a plug (P10) of a coupler, and the connection holding means (50) comprises retainers (53) and retainer engagement sections (52) which hold the socket (S10) and the plug (P10) in a connected state. Engagement claw sections (54) are formed on the inner side of the pair of retainers (53) which sandwiches a nozzle section (32), and this enables, in engagement operation, the retainers to be moved outward to reduce the gap between the retainers and the nozzle section (32). Interference prevention sections (58) are formed on the engagement claw sections (54) so that the engagement claw sections (54) can be disposed at a distance smaller than the outer diameter of the nozzle section (32), and this makes the coupler more compact. Also, the retainers (53) are configured to have a greater height than the front end of the nozzle section (32). As a result, the nozzle section (32) can be protected by the retainers (53) in an accident such as dropping, and the nozzle section (32) is not directly damaged.
