A coupon issuing system for portable terminal for displaying a coupon on a portable terminal used in a shop such as a restaurant. The coupon issuing system comprising initial authentication information storage means for storing therein initial authentication information, initial authentication information checking means for receiving an ID and a password from a shop terminal and checking if they agree with initial authentication information stored in the initial authentication information storage means, additional authentication information setting means for receiving an ID and a password newly set from the shop terminal, storing them in additional authentication information storage means, and thereby setting additional authentication information, additional authentication information checking means for receiving an ID and a password from the portable terminal and checking if they agree with the additional authentication information stored in the additional authentication information storage means, and coupon issuing means for receiving coupon information for issuing a coupon for the portable terminal from the portable terminal and issuing a coupon for the portable terminal.
