Description:

Cover strip with fastening means

The present invention refers to a cover strip with attachment means, which is intended to be mounted against a support in order to cover e.g. an opening or build in/cover cables and water pipes, said cover strip comprises a space along the extension direction of the strip and which is provided in the contact surface of said cover strip, turned towards aid support, whereby the space comprises limiting surfaces constituting an application surface for a number of attachment means, which before are mounted on said support, said attachment means are provided with at least one springing back male portion having gripping means, which during the mounting process of said cover strip catches into/increases the friction against said application surface, so that the cover strip is fixed to said support.

For the present structures of this type different types of cover strips are used today in order to cover openings between different supports such as floors and walls, ceilings, door- and window frames and in order to cover an opening, cables and water pipes and so on. In this case cover strips are used which are manufactured of plastic or noble wood and mounted on a support by aid of a number of attachment means having a quick locking function. Before the mounting of said cover strip the cables and pipes are placed into said attachment means. Over the same the cover strip is thereafter mounted. The quick mounting comprises a female portion in the covering strip and a male portion in said attachment means in the form of a strong defined hook, so that the cover strip is kept fastened in one a the same position, so that the distance between the support and the application surface of said cover strip will always be the same. In this case the cover strip will be curved mounted if the support is uneven. Further the structure will be expensive to manufacture, since the female portion and the male portion must be two different pre-manufactured attachment means, one for the support and one for the cover strip. This is expensive and complicated. If the cover strip is manufactured in plastic or noble wood, the female portion/male portion can however be built in within the cover strip. It is however difficult for the market to accept plastic and noble wood. Plastic is to understand as

unaesthetic. Noble wood is felled from rain-forest, which affects the environment and is besides expensive to buy. The machining of noble wood in order to receive a female portion/male portion requires expensive tools and is time consuming to manufacture.

One object with the present invention is to eliminate those drawbacks, which exist with the structures mentioned above, in providing a cover strip which covers e.g. an opening or builds in cables and pipes in the cover strip, so that the cover strip comprises a space, which is provided in its application surface. A number of attachment means having a spring back male portion with a grasping means, are pre-mounted on the support, which during the application of the cover strip against is grasping the application surface, whereby the cover strip is anchored.

Thanks the invention a cover strip has now been provided which comprises a skirting, door-/window frame, shadow list or the like, which easy can be mounted against a support e.g. a wall in order to cover an opening or build in cables and water pipes into the cover strip. According to the invention the cover strip comprised a space, which is provided in the contacting surface of the cover strip and further a distance into the cover strip and which totally or partly extends along the extension direction of the cover strip. During the application of said cover strip the contact surface is turned towards the support. The space comprises limiting surfaces constituting application surface for a number of attachment means. These are pre- mounted on the support. The attachment means comprises a recess in the form of e.g. an opening, a slot or the like in order to by aid of a fastening element such as e.g. a screw, a rivet, clamp, nail or the like to fix the attachment means in the support. The attachment means comprises spring back male portions having application means, which during the application of said cover strip against the attachment means, grasps/creates friction towards said application surface, so that the cover strip is anchored. In a preferred embodiment example of the invention the application surface is provided with a friction creating structure, which is provided during the treatment such as e.g. cutting of the space, said friction against the

application surface increases, when the application means grasps into/creates friction against the friction constituting structure. This is achieved easiest if the cover strip is made of a somewhat softer, elastic material such as spruce, pin wood, wood fibre, MDF, foamed PVC-plastic or the like or combinations of these materials. The attachment means is made of a spring back material, preferably spring steel, plastic or other material. Thanks to the friction creating structure along the extension of the application surface, the application means can much easier grasp into/create friction against anywhere in the application surface, which means that the covering strip can be mounted mainly straight with a varying distance between the contact surface and the support, when the support has an uneven extension. The best friction is achieved if the application means has a sharp edge. The space has a depth in an extension direction, which mainly is perpendicular in relation to the extension direction of the support, so that the mounting of the cover strip can take place in the extension direction by pressing in the cover strip over the attachment means, which gives a rapid and simple mounting. The attachment means has at least one stop in the form of e.g. a projection, a lip, an edge, a supporting surface or the like, which guides and positions the attachment means and the cover strip during the mounting of these against the support. The stop then guides against e.g. a wall edge, a floor, a door- or window frame, a ceiling or the like, whereby the attachment means can be mounted in a predetermined position against the support and follow each other in a predetermined line. According to the invention the attachment means comprise supporting element, which support the cables and water pipes mounted on the to the attachment means, which in this case are mounted against the support before the mounting of the cover strip, so that the space totally or partly constitute room to build in/cover the cables and the water pipes in/inside the cover strip. The most important advantages with the invention are thus that a cover strip has been provided with attachment means, which easy can be mounted straight against a support without being crowned. The male portion in the attachment means grasps into/creates friction against the application surface, whereby no female portion is needed, which makes that the structure is simple and cheap to manufacture and work with. Above all the

cover strip becomes especially cheap when manufactured by whitewood and pinewood.

The invention is described closer below by aid of some preferred embodiment examples in view of the drawings enclosed, in which

Fig. 1 shows a vertical section through a wall, where an attachment means is mounted having cables and water pipes, whereupon the cover strip has been mounted against the attachment means,

Fig. 2 shows a vertical section through a wall, on which an attachment means has been mounted with cables and water pipes before the cover strip has been mounted, and

Fig. 3 shows an alternative embodiment example of the invention according to Fig. 1.

As can be seen from Fig. 1 and partly form Fig. 2 and 3, a cover strip 1 is illustrated against a support 6, e.g. a wall 13 in order to cover e.g. an opening 2 or to build in cables and water pipes 3 by aid of supporting element 22. The cover strip 1 is mounted against at least one attachment means 10. The cover strip 1 has a space 4, which is provided in the contact surface 5 of the cover strip 1. The space 4 has limiting surfaces 7, two of which constitute an application surface 9. The attachment means 10 is provided with spring back male portions 11 having application means 12, intended to hook into/creates friction against the application surface 9. The application surface 9 has a friction constituting structure 14. A distance 15 between the contact surface 5 and the support 6 raises when the support 6 has an uneven extension. The space 4 has a depth 17 in an extension direction 18. The attachment means 10 has a height 23, which is less than the height 24 of the cover strip 1.

As can be seen from Fig. 2 is illustrated that the application means 12 has a sharp edge 16. The attachment means 10 has a recess 20 in the form of e.g.

an opening, so that the same can be fixed by aid of fastening elements 19. The attachment means 10 is provided with a stop 21 for position orientation of its height level towards a floor.

As can be seen from Fig. 3 the attachment means 10 has a stop 21 in two places, one towards the floor an another towards the lower part of the contact surface 5 in order to position orientation its lower part in a predetermined distance towards the wall 13 at the same time as its upper part is resting directly against the wall 13. In Fig. 1 the supporting elements 22 are pointing in a direction towards the wall 13 and surround the cables and water pipes 3 for a better holding of these. In Fig. 3 the supporting elements 22 are pointing in a direction from the wall 13, so that they are open for accessibility during the mounting of cables and water pipes 3.
