Provided are a covered wire in which high flame resistance is achieved in a structure in which an insulating covering is provided to the outer periphery of a conductor having a flat cross-section, and a wire harness provided with such a covered wire.　Provided is a covered wire 1 having a conductor 10 and an insulating covering 20 which covers the outer periphery of the conductor 10. The covered wire 1 has a flat section in which the conductor 10 has flat shape that is long in the width direction in a cross-section crossing the axial direction. In the cross-section of the flat section, the insulating covering 10 has a width-direction section 21 along the width direction and a height-direction section 22 along a height direction crossing the width direction, which are flat sections on the outer peripheral surface. A round shape having a radius R is formed in a joining section 23 of the width-direction section 21 and the height direction section 22, and the radius R and a thickness t of the insulating covering 20 in the flat sections 21, 22 satisfy the relationship R>t. Further provided is a wire harness that includes the covered wire 1.
