Abstract:
Provided is a current blocking element in which a first electrode layer 21, an ion conductive layer 23, and a second electrode layer 22 are laminated in this order, wherein the first electrode layer 21 is capable of holding ions as they are, or in a reduced state, or in an oxidized state, the ion conductive layer 23 has ionic conductivity and does not have electronic conductivity, and the second electrode layer 22 is capable of holding ions as they are, or in a reduced state, or in an oxidized state. As current flows between the first electrode layer 21 and the second electrode layer 22, ions held in one electrode layer are moved to the other electrode layer. When ions held in one electrode layer are depleted or ions held in the other electrode layer are saturated, the current flow between the first electrode layer 21 and the second electrode layer 22 is blocked.
