Abstract:
A cutting insert based on an embodiment is formed in a flat plate-like shape having a polygonal first main surface (3A), a second main surface (3B) positioned on the opposite side to the first main surface, and an outer peripheral surface (5) positioned between the first and second main surfaces, the cutting insert comprising a cutting section (9) positioned in an area including at least a corner part of the first main surface and a main body section (7) positioned in an area excluding the cutting section. The main body section is thicker than the cutting section and is provided with recessed parts (19) or projecting parts (31) positioned on the outer peripheral surface.
