Abstract:
A cutting insert according to one non-limiting aspect has a quadrilateral column shape extending along a center axis from the tip end to the rear end and comprises a cutting portion and a body portion. The body portion has a top surface that is provided with a V-shaped first groove extending along the center axis, and a bottom surface that is provided with a V-shaped second groove extending along the center axis. The first groove has a first region that is positioned on the rear end side and a second region that is positioned further to the tip end side in comparison to the first region. The opening angle of the first groove in the first region is smaller than the opening angle of the first groove in the second region. The opening angle of the second groove is constant in the direction along the center axis.
