Title:
CUTTING UNIT FOR A THROUGHPUT MACHINE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2002092268
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a cutting unit for a throughput machine, enabling the narrow surface sides of plate-like workpieces made of wood and/or wood substitutes to be machined. The cutting unit has a rotating cutting tool (5) which is used to make a cut on the narrow surface sides of a workpiece and which is disposed upon a support (7) which is moved, together with the respective throughput workpiece (2), along a workpiece and returned to an initial position. In order to cause the cutting tool (5) to move forwards and backwards, the support can be moved across the throughput direction of the workpiece. In order to reduce the length of the cutting unit and provide a high throughput speed and cycle time for said workpieces, the support (7) bearing the cutting tool (5) is arranged on a fixed oscillation drive (8), whereby a longitudinal lift parallel to the throughput direction and a transversal lift is transmitted to the support (7), said lifts being superposed on a common plane, and the amplitude of the transversal lift towards the throughput workpieces (2) is adapted to the cutting depth of the cutting tool (5). The speed component of the longitudinal lift in the apex of the amplitude of the transversal lift is also adapted to workpiece throughput speed.
