Title:
CYCLE BASED ON AIR COMPRESSED BY AN AUXILIARY COMPRESSOR FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2023/060336
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for controlling the pressure and/or temperature inside the cylinder at the time of combustion initiation for all types of internal combustion engines, while maintaining near-stoichiometric fuel-to-oxidant ratios. It is based primarily on high compression by an auxiliary compressor of air that is accumulated in a tank. The aim is to have two sources of compressed air with a large temperature difference, one of which is relatively cold, corresponding to the ambient environment, and the other relatively hot, heated by the thermal energy recovered from exhaust gases. The air intake is carried out using predefined amounts from both sources as an injection of oxidant into the cylinder which contains part of the burnt gases kept from the previous combustion cycle, also in a predefined amount. This is possible because the engine operates with a two-stroke cycle.
