Abstract:
A cyclo-para-phenylene compound having 10, 11 or 13 benzene rings, which has not been synthesized selectively so far, is synthesized selectively. A cyclo-para-phenylene compound having a functional group introduced at a desired site therein, which has not been synthesized successfully so far, is also synthesized. A specific raw material is reacted employing a specific reaction, thereby selectively producing, in the form of a pure substance, a cyclic compound having 10, 11 or 13 bivalent aromatic hydrocarbon groups, 10, 11 or 13 bivalent heterocyclic groups or 10, 11 or 13 groups independently derived from the bivalent aromatic hydrocarbon groups or the bivalent heterocyclic groups. A cyclic compound containing a functional group can be produced by a method involving a step of reacting an organic compound that does not contain a specific functional group with an organic compound that contains a specific functional group, wherein the cyclic compound is a cyclic compound having at least 10 bivalent aromatic hydrocarbon groups, at least 10 bivalent heterocyclic groups or at least 10 groups independently derived from the bivalent aromatic hydrocarbon groups or the bivalent heterocyclic groups, and wherein at least one of the bivalent aromatic hydrocarbon groups, at least one of the bivalent heterocyclic groups or at least one of the groups independently derived from the bivalent aromatic hydrocarbon groups or the bivalent heterocyclic groups is substituted by a 1,4-phenylene group that has been substituted by a substituent.
