Abstract:
Inbred corn lines are disclosed herein that are homozygous for at least one bm gene. Such inbred corn lines are useful for producing F1 hybrid corn seed and plants that exhibit the brown midrib phenotype. Such plants yield a silage that, when fed to dairy cattle in a total ration, increases milk production. The ration can also be formulated to maintain milk production when cows are switched from a low forage to high forage diet.
