Abstract:
The present invention provides a data processing device to which a display device that performs pause driving is connected, wherein good display quality is ensured in the display device and power consumption is sufficiently reduced. When it is detected, in a host, that there is no data update in a frame buffer, the next refresh timing is calculated from drive information acquired from a liquid crystal display device (LCD), a timer is set such that there is a time-out after a time corresponding to the calculation result has elapsed, and the host shifts to a pause state 1 along with the LCD. Thereafter, the host returns to a normal state due to the time-out of the timer, and when a data update in the frame buffer is detected, data for refreshing the LCD display image is transferred from the host to the LCD. Furthermore, in the event that the time corresponding to the calculation result is longer than a prescribed standard, shifting takes place not to the abovementioned pause state 1 but to a pause state 2 in which power consumption is further reduced.
