Abstract:
A data processing device comprising a digital data processing unit (12) and a control unit (17). The digital data processing unit has an operation unit (10) for operating on digital data, and a power source management unit (11) for sending and receiving commands to/from the operation unit and managing an operation power source of the operation unit. The control unit controls user interface units (20, 21) for realizing user interface functions. The control unit diagnoses the operation of the digital data processing unit by monitoring the transfer status of the commands transferred back and forth between the operation unit and the power source management unit. The control unit, upon determining that an abnormality has occurred in the operation of the digital data processing unit, resets the digital data processing unit either partially or entirely regardless of the operation of the user interface units.
