Disclosed in the present invention is a data transmission system having an in-network storage capability, comprising a data requesting node, a data source service node and intermediate transport nodes. Each node is provided with a whole-network unique identifier (ID), at least possesses one network address (NA), and is provided with a unit for processing ID-based transport layer protocol messages. The data requesting node is used to generate and send a data request message and receive a data response message. The data source service node is used to respond to the data request, and when a data block having an ID identifier is stored in said node, provide a sending service for the content of the data block, and generate and send a data response message. The intermediate transport nodes are used to process ID-based transport layer protocol messages, and are provided with an automatic-decision data storage function. The nodes can decide subsequent processing behavior from information acquired from a message and the network state of the present node, can respond to the data request, and when a data block having an ID identifier is stored in the present node, provide a sending service for the content of the data block, and generate and send a data response message.
