Title:
DEFORMED SHAPE-MAINTAINING FIBER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/049522
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A deformed shape-maintaining fiber that is plastically deformable and can maintain a plastically deformed shape can be prepared using a polylactic acid resin and a disk-shaped inorganic fuller. The disk-like inorganic filler may be a scale-like inorganic filler having a cleavage property (e.g., talc, mica). The disk-shaped inorganic filler has an average particle diameter of about 1 to 500 μm and an aspect ratio of about 10 to 1000. The ratio of the polylactic acid resin to the disk-shaped inorganic filler is approximately 50/50 to 95/5 by weight. The fiber may be a core-and-sheath type composite fiber wherein the sheath part is composed of the polylactic acid resin and the disk-like inorganic filler. The fiber may be stretched. The fiber is suitable for use as a tie for bundling or fixing an article.
