Abstract:
The present invention provides a design method for implementing backplane lighting for multiple NVMe hard disks, pertaining to the field of server hard disk backplanes. The design steps comprise: connecting a set of VPP signal lines to each controller on a motherboard, wherein the VPP signal lines transmit a signal to a backplane via a sideband channel of a connector of each port; the controller periodically transmitting a VPP address to a backplane end, and the backplane end analyzing address information after receiving a data stream transmitted by the controller; if a VPP address simulated by a backplane channel is the same as the address transmitted by the controller, the controller transmitting hard disk lighting information corresponding to a disk position to the backplane; and the backplane converting a serial data stream on a VPP into a parallel signal, turning on a backplane light of the corresponding port, and uploading monitored hard disk in-position information to the controller. The design method provided in the present invention resolves the issue in which a locate light of a current NVMe hard disk backplane cannot be normally turned on and adds address line information in a connector to realize flexible configuration of multiple NVMe hard disks.
