Abstract:
Provided are a detection device, a display device, a detection system and a detection method, with which it is possible to improve the accuracy of authentication. The detection device comprises a sensor unit, a detection unit for receiving output from the sensor, a detection control unit for drive-controlling the senor unit and detection unit, and a processing unit for performing a process that corresponds to the output of the detection unit. The detection control unit drives the sensor unit and detection unit and defines a touch detection period in which the coordinates of a finger contacting or approaching the sensor unit are detected and a fingerprint detection period in which a fingerprint image of the finger is detected. The detection unit alternatingly executes finger coordinate detection in the touch detection period and fingerprint image detection in the fingerprint detection period. The processing unit sequentially acquires the finger coordinates and fingerprint image from the detection unit, and calculates a difference value of the finger coordinates detected in the touch detection period before and after the fingerprint detection period in which the fingerprint image was acquired. When the difference value is equal to or less than a prescribed value the processing unit holds the acquired fingerprint image, and, when the difference value is larger than the prescribed value, destroys the acquired fingerprint image.
