Abstract:
This detection device (1) comprises a light-emitting element array (20) comprising a plurality of light-emitting elements, a light-receiving element array (5) comprising a plurality of light-receiving elements for receiving light that has been reflected after being emitted onto an object to be detected from the light-emitting element array, a drive unit (50) for driving the light-emitting elements, and a detection unit (8) for detecting the object to be detected by controlling at least one from among the timing of the supply of a drive current to the light-emitting elements to emit light and the light reception timing of the light-receiving elements such that even if the arrangement of the light-emitting elements to emit light changes, the variation in the amount of time from the start of light emission from the light-emitting elements to emit light to the time when the light-receiving elements receive light falls within a predetermined range. When an object to be detected is detected through the detection of light that has been reflected after being emitted onto the object to be detected from a light-emitting element array comprising a plurality of light-emitting elements, this invention makes it possible to, relative to a case in which the influence of variation in the arrangement of the light-emitting elements to emit light is not taken into consideration, suppress the influence of light-emission-rise-characteristic variation even if the arrangement of the light-emitting elements to emit light changes.
