Abstract:
In order to highly accurately detect fluorescence emissions and phosphorescence emissions of paper sheets, a fluorescence/phosphorescence detection device that detects fluorescence emissions and phosphorescence emissions of paper sheets conveyed on a conveyance path comprises two sensor units having: light sources which radiate UV light towards a paper sheet; image sensors which are capable of capturing images of fluorescence emissions and phosphorescence emissions excited on the paper sheet by the UV light; and light-receiving lenses which guide the fluorescence emissions and the phosphorescence emissions that have been excited on the paper sheet to the image sensor. The two sensor units are disposed vertically opposing one another and sandwiching the conveyance path, and the light-receiving lenses and the image sensors inside the upper and lower sensor units are disposed in positions that are staggered in the paper sheet conveyance direction.
