Title:
DETECTION OF DNA METHYLATION OF TAL1, ERG AND/OR CD40 TO DIAGNOSE PROSTATE CANCER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/037936
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are methods for diagnosing and/or prognosing a subject with prostate cancer. In some embodiments, the methods include obtaining a biological sample comprising genomic DNA from the subject, and measuring the level of one or more methylated genomic CpG dinucleotides in one or more of the genomic targets TAL1. ERG or CD40, or a combination of two or more thereof, in the sample, wherein an increase in the level of methylation of the one or more genomic CpG dinucleotides in the sample compared to a control indicates a subject with prostate cancer. In some embodiments, the method also includes detecting presence of a TMPRSS2-ERG gene fusion in the sample from the subject.
