Description:

DEVICE FOR THE APPLICATION OF COSMETIC FORMULATIONS

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

The object of the present invention consists of a device for the application of cosmetic formulations, in particular cosmetic formulations in solid frozen state; the invention also relates to a process for the application of said solid frozen formulations on the skin of the user thereof.

This device avoids contact of the hands with the cosmetic formulation, by the inclusion of an applicator and therefore, all the cold from the cosmetic formulation is used to revert it on the skin and on the area on which the cosmetic formulation is applied, to strengthen the effect thereof.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The application of cold is known for the stimulation of blood circulation in certain areas of the body, making use of this blood stimulation to cause an effect additional to the application of certain products on the body surface.

Patent application US2004/0180017 is known regarding a cosmetic product packaged in single doses for their application on the human body, these single doses being used in solid frozen form and applied in the form of gel on the human body, which, at the same time as it complies with its mission of gel, uses the power of this product being frozen so that the blood circulation is stimulated where it is applied.

This invention is only devised for use in the production of portions of frozen gel which lose their effectiveness due such a large application area thereof, which is on the entire human body.

In the same line of frozen cosmetic products, we find Japanese patent application JP 2006225299, which provides the freezing of cosmetic compositions with the purpose of reducing or eliminating the antiseptic agents which this product may contain.

German patent OF-10310338 provides a device in the form of depression of a plastic sheet, provided with a paste or powder capable of mixing with water for use as a cosmetic. This cosmetic preparation may be frozen to be applied frozen.

Japanese Patent JP 2005007018 provides a device for the application, of cosmetics in localized form on the skin, which provides the impregnation of water or lotion on a cotton hood, to be previously cooled for its application on the skin.

It is the purpose to look for a cosmetic formulation which can be solidified/frozen and be applied directly on the skin, without the aid of impregnable elements and without the need to be touched by the user's hand.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The device proposed by the present invention is designed for the application of cosmetic formulations in frozen state on the skin, which causes, as is known, a peripheral vasoconstriction and in compensation stimulates the circulation in the internal organs. This peripheral vasoconstriction causes a reactional vasodilatation which gives the red colour to the skin and which is precisely the desired effect since:

- It has a toning effect

It improves the receptiveness of the cosmetic formulation and its response capacity

It stimulates the immune system It offers a sensation of wellbeing

When we speak of cosmetic formulations, we refer to any type of cosmetic formulation, whether, cream, lotion, etc., or any form of presentation thereof which can be applied on the skin with cosmetic effects.

The device of the invention is composed of a well containing the cosmetic formulation, a device for the application of the cosmetic formulation

which can be inserted inside the well, a removable well closure sheet and a cosmetic formulation liquid at ambient temperature and which can be frozen being applied on the skin.

The well contains a dose of the cosmetic formulation which remains liquid at ambient temperature and which is closed by a hermetic closure sheet which prevents the spilling of the cosmetic formulation when the well is handled. These wells can be formed or supplied forming groupings and can be made independent from one another so that each well constitutes a single-dose container of the cosmetic formulation.

The wells may have any appropriate form, although it is preferable that they have a form which facilitates the demoulding of the cosmetic formulation once solidified and frozen.

Once the sealing closure sheet that each well includes has been removed, a plunger is introduced inside, immersing it in the liquid cosmetic formulation, to later introduce the well in the freezer, solidifying the cosmetic formulation and leaving the plunger partially embedded in the mass of the frozen cosmetic formulation.

Said plunger consists of a central axis, joined to a circular base whereto the frozen cosmetic formulation adheres. This circular base has through-holes in the form of partial circular crowns through which the liquid cosmetic formulation traverses at ambient temperature when the plunger is introduced in the well and, in turn, when said product is frozen, it constitutes a retention element thereof with respect to the plunger.

The circular base of the plunger and on its surface opposite the central axis has rounded protuberances which act as boosters of the massage on the skin. These protuberances may have a semi-spherical shape and be distributed on the surface of the plunger, so that when they touch the skin, they boost the massaging of the skin using said device.

The process for the application of the cosmetic formulation of the invention comprises:

opening of the closure sheet of a well containing the cosmetic formulation introduction inside the well of a plunger partially immersing it inside the liquid cosmetic formulation liquid at ambient temperature. - introduction of the well, plunger and cosmetic product inside a freezing device for the solidification and freezing of the cosmetic formulation removal of the well from the freezer extraction of the plunger and the solidified and frozen cosmetic formulation with the corresponding separation from the well. - application of the solidified and frozen cosmetic formulation on the user's skin using the plunger.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

To complete the description being made and with the object of helping towards a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, in accordance with a preferred example of practical embodiment thereof, a set of figures is attached as an integral part of the description, wherein the following has been represented with an illustrative non-limitative character:

Figure 1 shows several simple representations of wells containing the cosmetic formulation.

Figure 2 represents different elevational and plan views of the applicator plunger of the cosmetic formulation in frozen state.

Figure 3 represents a plan and profile view of the grouping of wells containing the cosmetic formulation.

Figures 4.1 to 4.4 represent four views representing the process followed for the final application of the frozen cosmetic formulation on the skin.

DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Figure 1 represents different embodiments of the elements that form the well (1 ), containing the cosmetic formulation in liquid state at ambient temperature and which can be solidified and frozen when its temperature

decreases as a consequence of being introduced inside a freezer apparatus.

This well (1 ) has a configuration of conical walls (2) or cylindrical walls (20), which facilitate the demoulding of the cosmetic formulation when it is frozen, whilst the end of these wells adopts a semi-spherical shape (3) to also facilitate the demoulding of the cosmetic formulation once frozen. In the representation of cylindrical walls, a step (21 ) is adopted which acts as intake stop of the plunger (4) unit.

Figure 2 represents the plunger (4), which is constituted by a central axis (5) which becomes a handle for the application of the cosmetic formulation, disposing at its end a circular base (6) which will be introduced inside the well (1 ), leaving the circular base embedded inside the liquid cosmetic formulation when this is later frozen.

This circular base has through-holes (8) with the form of a partial crown, through which the cosmetic formulation traverses when the plunger is introduced therein, acting as retention element when said product is frozen and solidifies.

On the surface opposite the position of the central axis (5) a series of protuberances (7) is disposed which facilitates the massaging on the skin and, therefore, the penetration of the cosmetic formulation when this is applied to the skin. These protuberances have a semi-spherical shape, but can have any suitable rounded shape which facilitates said massaging on the skin where the cosmetic formulation is applied.

Figure 3 represents a plan and profile view of a grouping (9) of wells (1 ), this grouping being closed at its upper part by a closure sheet (10), which can be individually peeled off each one of the wells (1 ) and said closure to avoid the spilling of the cosmetic formulation at ambient temperature, since it is in liquid state. The profile view includes both the conical and cylindrical wall versions, which can form the invention

For the separation of the wells (1 ), each one of which form a single- dose application of the cosmetic formulation, the grouping (9) has a lattice of

precut lines (11 ) which would individualize each one of the wells before being introduced in the freezing chamber of the cosmetic formulation.

Figures 4.1 to 4.4 represent four representative views of the process followed for the final application of frozen cosmetic formulation on the skin, both in the conical wall and cylindrical wall versions.

Figure 4.1 shows how the well (1 ) includes the cosmetic formulation (12) in liquid state and how the closure sheet (10) is removed for the start of its use.

In figure 4.2 it is observed how the closure sheet (10) has been removed and how the plunger (4) is approximated for its introduction in the mass of the cosmetic formulation (12) which is found in liquid state, as observed in figure 4.3.

As is represented, the unit in figure 4.3 would be introduced in the freezer apparatus solidifying the cosmetic formulation (12).

When the cosmetic formulation is going to be applied on the user, it is demoulded from the cosmetic formulation solidified as is represented in figure 4.4, then applying it on the user's skin.

The process for the application of the cosmetic formulations of the invention includes the following operating phases:

opening of the closure sheet (10) of a well (1 ) containing the cosmetic formulation. introduction inside the well (1 ) of a plunger (4), partially immersing it inside the liquid cosmetic formulation (4) at ambient temperature. - introduction of the well (1 ), plunger (4) and the cosmetic formulation

(12) inside a freezing device for solidification of the cosmetic formulation (12). removal of the well (1 ) from the freezer. extraction of the plunger (4) and the solidified and frozen cosmetic formulation (12), with the corresponding separation of the well (1 ). application of the solidified and frozen cosmetic formulation (12) on

the user's skin using the plunger (4).
