Abstract:

A device for arresting bleeding in the esophagus comprises two inflatable chambers (1, 3) with air supply tubes (7, 8). Each inflatable chamber (1, 3) embraces a bushing (2, 4) made of a rigid material and provided with a smooth internal surface to allow easy slipping of an endoscope (5) to be passed through it. The endoscope is provided with a stop (6) for limiting movement of the bushing (4) of the upper chamber (3) along it.
