Title:
DEVICE FOR THE CONTACTLESS CAPTURE OF BIOMETRIC FEATURES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/115425
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
Known fingerprint capturing devices have the problem of being able to reliably capture the number of minutiae required for reliably recognizing a fingerprint. This is due in part to the fact that the contrast of the image is very low for known arrangements. The aim of the invention is to improve the capture quality by capturing the fingerprint without contact. The aim is achieved by direct frontal illumination, supplemented by additional side illumination. The frontal illumination ensures sufficient lighting conditions, and the side illumination ensures that shadows of the epidermal ridges are generated, which greatly increase the contrast, and therefore the quality of the capture.
