Abstract:

A display device comprises rotating color wheels (12, 14), for generating a periodic color beam, and an imager (16) which modulates the color beam on the basis of a received video signal (V RGB). At each period, the color beam (8) successively adopts a plurality of base colors (a, ss, <) synchronised with the images generated by said imager for each base color (a, ss, ?). The tint of the base colors (a, ss, ?) can be modified by setting the relative position ( PHI ) of the color wheels (12, 14), in order to adapt said colors, as well as possible, to the received video signal (V RGB).
