Abstract:
In accordance with an embodiment, a device includes: a first light-emitting unit (402) including: a first transistor array (616) over a first substrate (624), the first substrate (624) being flat and opaque to visible light; a first light-emitting diode array (614) over the first transistor array (616); a first spacer (618) over the first light-emitting diode array (614), the first spacer (618) including a liquid crystal material having an ordinary refractive index and an extraordinary refractive index; and a first microlens (604) over the first spacer (618); and a second light-emitting unit (402) spaced apart from the first light-emitting unit (402), the second light-emitting unit (402) including: a second transistor array (616) over a second substrate (624), the second substrate (624) being flat and opaque to visible light; a second light-emitting diode array (614) over the second transistor array (616); a second spacer (618) over the second light-emitting diode array (614), the second spacer (618) including the liquid crystal material; and a second microlens (604) over the second spacer (618).
