Title:
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CORRECTING A LONGITUDINAL REGISTER ERROR WHICH IS CAUSED BY POSITION ADJUSTMENT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2003066332
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for correcting the longitudinal register of a rotary printing machine that comprises a plurality of inking systems (1 to 9). According to the inventive method, a control unit adjusts the desired placement line (D) of the printing block on the web of material lying on one of the two cylinders by controlling the one or more drives of the cylinders (11, KN) of an inking system directly involved in the printing process in such a manner that the two cylinders, at least during a defined period, have different circumferential speeds. The control unit takes the shift (A) of the actual, effective printing line on the circumference of the two cylinders (11, KN) into consideration during correction. Said shift is caused by a position adjustment along an axis (BAN) of one of the two cylinders involved in the printing process, said axis not extending in parallel to the connecting line (SN) of the rotational axes (MN, M11) of the two cylinders involved in the printing process. The control unit determines the correction values on the basis of the relative position of the two cylinders (11, Kn) of an inking system (N) involved in the printing process and the angle (alpha) between the connecting line (SN) of the rotational axes of the two cylinders involved in the printing process and the axis of position adjustment (BAN).
