Abstract:
Provided is a power module insulation degradation detecting device capable of detecting in advance, from a current value flowing through an insulation sheet, a degradation of the insulation sheet on the basis of a current change immediately before insulation breakdown occurs and of detecting a failure of a power module due to an insulation degradation. The device comprises: a current detection means (10) for detecting the value of current flowing through an insulation sheet (3) of a power module by sampling at predetermined time intervals; a calculation means (11A) for determining, based on the current value, a state immediately before the insulation characteristics of the insulation sheet (3) are degraded and insulation breakdown occurs and for, when determining the state immediately before the breakdown of the insulation sheet (3) occurs, outputting a degradation determination result of "YES"; a current storage means (14) for storing a current value (i(n-1)) at a previous sampling time point; and an alarm means (12) for alarming in response to the degradation determination result of "YES". The calculation means (11A) outputs the degradation determination result of "YES" when a present current value (in) exceeds 10 times the previous current value (i(n-1)).
