Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a device and method for enhancing cognitive functions using personalized transcranial electrical stimulation, wherein use is made of individualized electroencephalography data to determine personalized transcranial electrical stimulation frequencies based on electroencephalography data that reflects the neurophysiological traits of each individual, whereby the effect of transcranial electrical stimulation can be maximized. The method for enhancing cognitive functions using personalized transcranial electrical stimulation according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: collecting electroencephalography data during cognitive task performance by the user; performing event-related synchronization or event-related desynchronization analysis on the occipital lobe channels using the electroencephalography data; and determining stimulation frequencies for individual transcranial alternating current stimulation on the basis of the result of the event-related synchronization or desynchronization analysis.
