Title:
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR EVALUATING BIDIRECTIONAL CROSSTALK
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2024/038487
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The purpose of the present disclosure is to enable evaluation of bidirectional crosstalk in an uncoupled multicore fiber transmission line, even in a case where intercore crosstalk is minimal. The present disclosure is a device that uses a loss distribution of first backward scattered light from a first core and/or a loss distribution of second backward scattered light from a second core to detect each point of loss in a tested optical fiber, calculate a mode coupling matrix Ti of an ith point of loss of the tested optical fiber, and calculate a fiber length Li of an ith fiber section isolated at the ith point of loss of the tested optical fiber, and that uses the mode coupling matrix Ti and the fiber length Li thus calculated, and a fiber loss coefficient α and a power coupling coefficient h of the tested optical fiber, which are measured beforehand, to calculate bidirectional crosstalk in the first core or the second core.
