Abstract:
A device and a method for manufacturing a metal tube-covered optical fiber cable; the method, comprising the step of, while manufacturing a metal tube (6) by forming a metal tape (2) in a tubular body and welding the joint of the metal tube (2), feeding an optical fiber (11) protected by a jerry substance into the metal tube (6) through a guide pipe (13) inserted in to the metal tube (6) so that the tip thereof is positioned ahead of a welded position, wherein a damage of the guide pipe (13) by welding heat is reduced to increase the service life of the optical fiber, and a welding torch (5) for welding the joint of the metal tape (2) is reciprocatingly moved along the joint for welding, whereby the welding heat can be prevented from being concentrated into one position on the guide pipe.
