Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a device and method for screening an optical fiber core wire with which it is possible to suppress the occurrence of damage in a resin coating surface, and a method for producing an optical fiber core wire. Provided is a screening method in which guaranteed tensile strain set as a guaranteed value is imparted to an optical fiber core wire having a resin coating layer, wherein the method includes: a preliminary strain-imparting step for applying tensile force while pressing two ends of one part of the optical fiber core wire, and imparting a preliminary tensile strain that is less than the guaranteed tensile strain; a guaranteed strain-imparting step for applying tensile force while pressing the two ends of one part of the optical fiber core wire to which the preliminary tensile strain was imparted, and imparting the guaranteed tensile strain for a prescribed period of time; and a strain release step for releasing the optical fiber core wire from the guaranteed tensile strain.
