WIPO Patent Application WO/2020/016642
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
The device for sanitation of bed ridden patient comprises of one fixed rot and one movable cot both with strings paved latterly on top Both cots can be coupled Strings of fixed cot will go between consecutive strings of movable cot if the movable cot is lifted. Bed of movable cot wilt be above level of fixed cot in the elevated position of movable cot. Patient can he laid over the bed in this portion. The patient will be left alone on grill of fixed cot if the movable cot is lowered. Movable cot can be detached and the bed along with excreta can be taken out and cleaned. Patient can be cleaned separately. The patient, can be transferred from movable cot to fixed cot and vice -versa by merely rotating handle in both directions for avoiding formation of bed-sore.

Description:
DESCRIPTION

Title of invention ;- Device for sanitation of bed-ridden patient

Field of invention Medical

A bed-ridden patient may either be conscious or unconscious and may take food and water regularly. There is chance of accumulation of excreta in bed. Sanitation is the main problem in nursing such a patient. In conventional method the patient will have to be taken out of bed and patient as well as bed will have to be cleaned separately Help of many people will be required for this process. Since the patient is always in bed there is every chance for bed-sore. The patient is helpless if he wishes to have a bath in cold or warm water. The patient can't think about a bath after smearing medicated oil all over body

Use of robot for toilet assistance will not function properly if the patient, loses muscle control over toilet function, especially while the patient is unconscious. Use of water bed and air bed can prevent formation of bed-sore to some extent. Since the patient is always in t

same position body may get heated up and the patient may feel uneasiness. To avoid body heating the patient will have to be tilted frequently. This process requires more effort and contributes disturbance to the patient.

Device for sanitation of bed-ridden patient is invented as a better aid to the patient. It provides sanitation more effectively at less expense and less man power According to the invention the bed-ridden patient can be separated from dirty bed as if roasted peanut is sieved out The patient and bed can be cleaned separately. The same bed can be used again and again after cleaning.

As per the invention, a bed is pushed up through the gap between strings of a string cot {cot with strings on top). Patient is laid over the bed. The bed along with exqeta can be brought down if the bed is pushed down. The naked patient alone will be on the string cot Bed carrying excreta can be taken out and the bed can be cleaned separately The patient also can be washed after putting waste water tray under string cot. The bed can be pushed up and bring the patient again over the bed. The patient can be transferred from bed to string cot frequently and vice-versa to avoid formation of bed-sore. COMI'im SPECIFICATION

The invention can be explained better with the aid of following drawings and nomenclature'

Drawings

According to the invention - DEVICE FOR SANITATION OF B£D-R ; DD£N PATIENTS- consists of two cots namely fixed cot as shown in fig 1 & fig 2 and movable cot as shown in fig 3 & fig 4. Both cots are similar to country coir cot and both are made up of steel frame sod steel strings. Strings 6 of fixed cot are made with three mm diameter continuous steel rope drawn through holes at equal interval on wooden frame 1 fixed to steel frame 2 of fixed cot as shown in fig 1. The strings are paved latterly. The strings are covered with plastic sleeve to avoid direct contact of patient with steel strings. The top of fixed cot looks like a grill.

Strings 7 of movable cot are also made with a continuous steel rope havmg three mm diameter. The steel rope is drawn through ten cm tong pipe 23 welded to steel frame 24 of movable cot as shown in fig 3 & fig 4. Strings 7 of movable cot are covered with PUF (poly urethane foam). Surface of movable cot is like a PUF bed. Bed sheet can be spread over the bed m a corrugated form. Corrugations must be deep enough to conceal strings 6 of fixed cot while the movable cot is lifted

The movable cot can be lifted inside the fixed frame with the aid of six mm diameter steel rope 4 drawn through eight fixed pulleys 3, four suspended pulleys 3 and spindle 22 of lifting mechanism 10. The lifting mechanism is placed in the bracket 9 fixed on short member of rectangular steel frame 2 of fixed cot as shown in figl & fig 2.

Four wheels 26 fixed on support 25 of movable cot, helps the lateral movement of movable cot easier. Strings 6 of fixed cot & strings 7 of moving cot are so aligned that strings 7of movable cot come in the gap between strings 6 of fixed cot white the movable cot is lifted. Four wheels 26 fixed on tray support 31 helps easy lateral movement of tray 2S Waste water will be collected in the tank 33 through drain pipe 30. Tank 33 can be taken out of tank support 32 for clearing.

Movable cot can be coupled with fixed cot with four hooks 18 on support 25 of movable cot and four eye-holes 15 on fixed cot. Both ends of steel rope 4 are tied to the long members of rectangular steel frame 2 with end loop 16 of steel rope 4 as shown in fig 1, fig 2, fig 3 & fig4

Couple fixed cot and movable cot Lift the movable cot to the maximum by rotating handle 19 in clockwise direction after inserting handle 19 m the handle socket 20 and locking the handle with handle locking screw 21. Latch the movable cot by pulling the latch lever 13 up The latch 11 then will go through the latch hole 14 of latch disk 12. Movable col will be latched m that position. Two hooks 18 of counter-weight 37 are to be hooked in end loops 27 of steel rope 5 Open the weight setting plate 28 of counter-weight. Fill the box with dry sand m equal weight of patient and replace plate 28 back In position.

Now the surface of the device looks like a PUF bed with corrugated finish Lay the patient naked on the bed and cover the patient with a blanket up to neck level. Push waste water tray shown in fig 9 & fig 10 and bring under the bed.

Push latch lever 13 and turn handle 19 In anti-dock-wise direction. Now the patient will be shifted from bed to the grill of fixed cot. (In order to prevent bed-sore, patient is to be shifted from bed to grill and vice-versa frequently by rotating handle m dock-wise and anticlockwise directions). Bring the movable cot down to ground and latch. Now the patient will be naked on the grili of fixed cot leaving excreta in the bed. Detach the movable cot from fixed cot. Pull the movable cot aside. Clean the bed thoroughly. Clean the patient through the grill. Remove the blanket and give a bath to the patient either with cold or warm water using a portable shower if so desired. Waste water will be collected in the tray 29 which will be collected in tank 33 through drain pipe 30. The tank can be taken out of tank support 32 and cleared.

The following are the advantages if the device for bed-ridden patient is used for nursing a bedridden patient.

1 Complete cleaning of patient apd bed is possible

2 Chance of bed -sore is less.

3 Nursing a bed-ridden patient is easier. Only single nurse weighing 25 kg or more can handle a patient weighing 150 kg or less

4 The patient can be given a complete bath in cold or warm water

5 Heating at contact portions of bed and body of patient is less and patient will feel comfort.

6 No dependency of electricity.

7 Medicines can be applied on all parts of patient if required

8 The device is less complicated and is cheaper

9 maintenance cost is less

10 Running cost is less
