Abstract:
In this diagnostic rope-damage inspection device, an ultrasound application device generates ultrasound in a wire rope by vibrating the wire rope through magnetorestriction. A detection element detects the variation in the ultrasound propagation state of the wire rope. The detection element and an excitation coil are disposed on a parallelogram having a first pair of facing sides of a length equal to the length of the wire rope over which one outer layer strand rotates around the wire rope once and a second pair of facing sides of a length equal to the product of the diameter of an outer layer wire included in one outer layer strand and the number of outer layer wires.
