Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide a dial for a timepiece which realizes a discreet light intensity and flatness, engenders an elegant sense of luxury and dignity, and which is simple to apply even to artificial cultured shells, and which consequently provides reflected light of a quality that is at least equivalent to that of natural shells. Another objective of the present invention is to provide said timepiece and a method of manufacturing a dial for a timepiece. This dial for a timepiece is configured from a workpiece which includes, in a mother-of-pearl surface, a polished portion which has been subjected to surface polishing in a state of having been cut out from a material including said mother-of-pearl and sliced, wherein thin films comprising a calcium carbonate crystal grown to a prescribed thickness in a substantially vertical direction from the polished portion are formed in the workpiece.
