Abstract:
Provided is a diesel engine in which a DPF can be regenerated even during no-load and/or light-load operation. A DPF regeneration process is configured such that after fulfillment of an initiation condition (S1) of a process to regenerate a DPF in which PM has accumulated, opening degree reduction control (S2) for an exhaust throttle valve is performed, and when exhaust has reached a temperature equal to or greater than a prescribed after-injection allowance temperature TA, after-injection control is then initiated (S5). After exhaust has reached a temperature equal to or greater than a prescribed post-injection allowance temperature TP due to the combustion of after-injection fuel, post-injection control is initiated (S7), and the PM accumulated in the DPF is incinerated by exhaust heated by catalytic combustion of post-injection fuel in a DOC on the downstream side of the valve.
