Abstract:
The present invention relates to a direct current power cable joining system comprising: a pair of direct current power cables, each of which includes a conductor, an inner semiconductive layer, a cable insulation layer, and an outer semiconductive layer; and a joint box for connecting the pair of direct current power cables to each other. The pair of direct current power cables have respective ends formed to face each other, at which respective conductors, inner semiconductive layers, cable insulation layers, and outer semiconductive layers are successively exposed. The joint box comprises: a conductor connection part electrically connecting a pair of cable conductors to each other; a reinforcing insulation layer which comprises a first reinforcing insulation layer and a second reinforcing insulation layer, wherein the first reinforcing insulation layer has an insulation sheet wound thereon and surrounding a conductor connection part, the exposed inner semiconductive layer, and the exposed cable insulation layer, is formed up to the outer surface of the cable insulation layer, and has sloping surfaces respectively formed at both ends thereof in the longitudinal direction, and the second reinforcing insulation layer has a straight line part surrounding the first reinforcing insulation layer and the exposed cable insulation layer and having a constant width in the longitudinal direction of a cable, and a slope part formed at each of both ends of the straight line part and having a decreasing longitudinal width of the cable in the radial direction of the cable. An electric field relaxation layer made of a material lower in volume resistivity than the first reinforcing insulation layer is provided between the first reinforcing insulation layer and the conductor connection part or the inner semiconductive layer.
