Abstract:

The objective of the present invention is to provide a direct current power transmission system and method, and a central server provided in the system, with which, when a failure has arisen in a direct current power transmission pathway, it is possible for a sector in which the failure has been resolved to be returned to the grid rapidly, safely and reliably. When the occurrence of a failure has been detected in a direct current power transmission pathway in which a plurality of pathways branch or merge: first, switches 6 are disconnected in order to isolate a failed sector 23 from the direct current power transmission pathway; second, after the switches 6 have been disconnected, one of the disconnected switches 6 is reconnected; third, if the failure continues to be detected after said one switch 6 has been reconnected, the reconnected switch 6 is once again disconnected; fourth, if the failure does not continue to be detected after said one switch 6 has been reconnected, all the switches 6 that were disconnected in order to isolate the failed sector 23 from the direct current power transmission pathway are returned to the connected condition, thereby restoring the failed sector.
