Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a disc brake pad which is provided with a friction material having a scorch-treated friction surface, and is capable of obtaining a sufficient braking effect while preventing a fade phenomenon at the initial stage of use of the disc brake pad. [Solution] In a disc brake pad provided with a friction material having a friction surface that has received a heat history by scorch treatment, a part having a large heat history of scorch treatment and a part having a relatively small heat history are mixed on the friction surface. When A is a mass reduction rate when thermogravimetric analysis at 500°C is performed inside a friction material that has not received the heat history of scorch treatment, B1 is a mass reduction rate when thermogravimetric analysis at 500°C is performed on a part of the friction surface having the largest heat history of the scorch treatment, and B2 is a mass reduction rate when thermogravimetric analysis at 500°C is performed on a part of the friction surface having a relatively small heat history of the scorch treatment relative to the part having the largest heat history of the scorch treatment, the following expression is satisfied. Expression: 30 ≤ B1/A x 100 ≤ 90 50 ≤ B2/A x 100 B2/A x 100 - B1/A x 100 ≤ 60
