Abstract:
A discharge lamp device comprising a discharge lamp DL and a lighting circuit. The discharge lamp DL comprises a tubular translucent airtight container (1), a fluorescent element layer (2), an inner electrode (4), a discharge medium mainly consisting of Xenon and an outer electrode (5). The lighting circuit outputs a pulsating voltage, for application between the inner electrode (4) and the outer electrode (5) of the discharge lamp DL. The lighting circuit is constructed so as to satisfy the following expression when a Xenon sealing partial pressure in the discharge lamp DL is P(kPa), a total discharge charge amount produced during one frequency of a lamp current Q(nC), and a total shutdown time Ts(µs): Ts·P/Q≥0.5.
