DISK HAND HELD SAND BLASTING MACHINE

The Related Art

Invention relates to a mechanism used for sand blasting operation corresponding to cleaning of the surface as a result of blast of the particles onto surface and roughening in surface operations technology of multiple industrial fields.

The invention particularly relates to hand type mechanism obtained as a result of modifications made onto hard type grinding devices of grains centrifugal system to be used in sand blasting operation.

Background of the Invention

Sand blasting is a mechanical process used for cleaning of metal surfaces after production or for removal of the undesired agents arising from dirt occurring in time (rust, oil, dye etc.) from the surface. Purpose of the process is to prepare material for next process. After material is, sand blasted operations such as oiling, dying or coating can be carried out problem free. Specifically manufactured grits are used for sanding operation. Various sizes and hardness are available depending on status of surface intended to be formed and the features of layer to be removed sand blasting provides great advantage in surfaces difficult for mechanical cleaning because of geometric shapes. Main purpose of sanding process is to thoroughly clean the metal to be dyed, coated or shaped and form porosities and pores where operation to be applied can grasp metal surface or eliminate oxide layer to be obstacle during shaping process sand blasting process is conducted by use of sand blasting machines to be selected depending on size of parts. High compressed air is generated by use of compressor at the machine and sand in the chamber is sprayed onto metal surface during each hit, sand metal surface is worn in micron level and also oil, dirt, rust and all other undesired agents are cleaned and surface is made ready for applying paint.

One of existing embodiments is the hit of grains speeded up by compressed air onto target surface and providing abrasion. Disadvantage: High amount of air consumption and big capacity compressor need, high energy and ownership cost, transport and location problems can be listed. In addition, transfer of humidity and oil to the cleaning surface, not appropriate for individual hand tool application, necessity to use material resistant against pressure, narrow surface to be cleaned area and other similar disadvantages should also be taken into account.

One of other applications in use today is the direction of the grains by means of compressed water systems. In this system used for prevention of dust formation, particles are thrown by means of compressed water. Corrosive effect of water limits its use in several areas. Water source and special pumps are needed. It is not appropriate for hand tool profile. Steam compressed spraying sand blasting machine is another alternative use.

The above examples are the mechanisms having the most common uses today. The biggest disadvantage of the said mechanisms is the necessity of having a second unit to supply air or water. In other words, while compressor is necessary for air supported sand blasting machine, compressed water pumps are needed for water supported sanding machine. This second unit necessity makes the machine slow and particularly narrows down working alternatives in places difficult to access.

The application numbered EP2829362 provides cleaning of parts by means of directing abrasive material centrifuge effect at fixed angles to fixed, rotating, suspended, linear moving parts. Parts to be cleaned must be placed into the system into system and be of sizes allowing access. Mostly used in casting sector, the system is also used for purposes such as surface preparing, cleaning, decorative, surface hardening (tampering), surface coating. Basic cycle consists of throwing abrasive material from machine line disk which is fixed, collection of abrasive and external parts, clearing from dust and foreign agents (magnetic separation and intensity difference based separation) re-supply of abrasive agent into turbine and spraying onto parts. This study relates to turbine blade shape of fixed turbine system machine. It is related to tip curved design and tungsten carbide embodiment. Symmetric cavity tip structure is reversed and thus reuse is allowed. This mechanism has an integrated system from multiple points rather than single disk, necessity of passing through multiple parts such as directing agent and blades after entrance of sand from center, needing heavy and strong engines and necessity of use in fixed electrical engine systems.

The patent application numbered US2846822 discloses a sand blasting system wherein sand blast machine carries abrasive agents to surface to be cleaned by means of compressed air. This application’s disadvantages include compressed air for grain throwing, high quantity of carrying air consumption and need for compressor, narrow and control difficulty of area of use.

Patent application numbered US5498197 and entitled A Hand-held blast cleaning machine discloses cleaning of flat surfaces. Abrasive materials are propelled from a certain height into a close chamber by help of an engine and parts abrades and cleans the surface they hit. Parts broken from floor abrasive materials are absorbed by means of a duct and filtered and then abrasive grains are sent to disk for re-propelling and cycle continues so on.

From the background of the related art the purpose of the invention is to provide a hand held tool easily usable in sanding areas with narrow area and high places. Another purpose of the invention is to eliminate the need for an extra unit such as compressor or water pump.

A further purpose of the invention is to provide conduct of sanding operation at a low energy cost.

Another purpose of the invention is to provide a solution for the requirements of humidity and air pressure sensitive applications.

Another purpose of the invention is to provide an embodiment adaptable to liquid fuel oil engines.

A further purpose of the invention is to provide a simpler embodiment consisting of more parts in comparison to equivalent mechanisms.

Another purpose of the invention is to provide a mechanism having both sanding and grinding functions basically and to activate preferred functions easily according to needs.

A further purpose of the invention is to eliminate the need for professional operator for operation of sanding.

Detailed Description of the Invention

This detailed description of the invention discloses the principles of breaking undesired layers from surfaces of metal content materials or when porosity is desired on the same surfaces and called sand blasting and adaptation of the mechanism used in mentioned process, to a known and existing tool and thus obtaining a hand tool with two functions

The section entitled background of the related art describes that sand propelled onto surface to be processed in sand blasting operation in applications of said prior art is sent by means of air or water pressure effect in general. Both methods are slow and have high cost and thus have several disadvantages.

Sand blasting mechanism based on new principle aims to adapt into a sanding tool by means of minor modification of already available hand tool by use of their features. Today there are sand blasting instruments used as hand held tools for surface sanding operation. Hand tool consisting of an electrical engine body (1) rotates the grinding disk (11) of fine circular form by rotation force effect from the engine and thus provides conduct of sanding operation. Said sanding hand tool is used particularly in manufacture sector for years and as mentioned, electrical engine is adequate for driving, and starting from this point, since grinding disk (11) can conduct rotation at high speed, it is thought that this mechanism can also perform sand blast process.

A person skilled in his field on average level capable to do grinding disk (11) easily demounts it and instead of it, mounts a sand blasting disk (5) having geometry capable to propel sand particles and thus grinding hand held tool also has sanding hand tool shape function. In the first step, grinding disk connection bolt (12) is dismantled and grinding disk cover (13) and grinding disk (11) are mounted. In the next step, sand blasting disk (5) is connected by means of same principle by help of grinding disk connection bolt (12). Then sand blasting inlet cover (2) is mounted onto sand blasting disk (5).

Sand grains are in sand tank (14) unit shown in Figure 4. Sand tank (14) can be carried by means of dragging on floor by means of tank supports (15) of broad area angle telescopic feature subject to environment of work, as well as sand tank (14) can be installed onto operator's back by help of hangers on the sand tank (14). Thus carrying mechanism to high areas of narrow feature and difficult to work becomes easier.

After mounting sand blasting disk (5) to hand tool and making sand available in the sand tank (14), sand output hose (16) located in lower section of sand tank (14) and sand blasting flow hose (3) are interconnected. Sands in the sand tank (14) lows towards sand blasting disk (5) by influence of height difference effect and vibration motor (17) effect. Sand blasting disk blade (6) are provided on sand blasting disk (5) side surface. Sand particles coming from sand blasting flow hose (3) passes through sand inlet neck (8) and laid onto sand blasting disk blade (6). Sand blasting disk (5) performing rotation by electrical engine driving of hand tool is propelled as shown in figure 1 from sand outlet range (9) by centrifugal effect of sand particles by means of sand blasting disk blades (6).

Sand flow adjustment (7) on sand blasting flow hose (3) can adjust sand flowing amount. Furthermore, hose vibration bar (4) provides vibration movement to the hose so as to prevent incidents such as any blocking in the sand blasting flow hose (3). As the above detailed description shows, hand-held grinding devices are converted into a shot sand blasting machine by simple operation.
