Abstract:
A control unit 20 to which an image signal is externally supplied is equipped with: a display control unit 25 for receiving the supplied image signal and controlling so as to display a screen image on a display unit 11; a comparison unit 23 for comparing a peak level of an image signal of a text window section displayed on the display unit 11 with a peak level of an image signal of the image displayed on the display unit 11; and a brightness control unit 24 for controlling according to the comparison results from the comparison unit 23 so as to adjust the gain in the direction which decreases the peak level across the entire screen image when the peak level of the image signal of said image is greater than the peak level of the image signal of the text window section.
