Abstract:
A display device is provided with a display unit that includes a plurality of pixels and a drive circuit that drives the display unit according to color assignment rules. The plurality of pixels are divided into first through fourth groups such that a group to which each pixel belongs is different from any group to which pixels adjacent in eight directions belong and such that between pixels belonging to the same group the pixels adjacent in the eight directions belong to the same group. In the pixels of the first through fourth groups, first through fourth colors are assigned in a first subframe, second through fourth and first colors in a second subframe, third, fourth, first, and second colors in a third subframe, and fourth and first through third colors in a fourth subframe. Thus, a display device with a field sequential color system in which color breakup and stripes are difficult to see is provided.
